Product description

Size:12.5 cm diameter

GRADE 2 V FLUTED Qualitative Filter Paper
Equivalent to Whatman grade 2 V, this laboratory filter paper is widely used for standard fine filtration when you need to separate a solid or precipitate from the filtrate.
Made from high alpha-cellulose cotton, this standard lab filter is not intended for ashing.

APPLICATIONS

  • science : General filtration in the 8 ?m range, clarification of cloudy suspension in labs
  • food : Determination of total fat content in foodstuff and dairy, unsaponifiable fraction in fats and oils (fluted)
  • beverage : Beer and malt analysis, removal of turbidity from wort and removal of yeast after fermentation (fluted)
  • agriculture : Prefiltration of soil, hold nutrient in plant growth trials
  • environment : Air polution monitoring of specific atmospheric contaminants and black smoke

HIGH RETENTION
Retains fine crystalline and organic precipitates around 8μm like:

  • Metal Sulfides (Cd, Ni, Zn, Fe, Pb, Mn, Ag, As)
  • Ba Sulfate, Pb Chromate, Mg oxide
  • Ca Oxalate (cold), Ca Fluoride, Pb Dioxide

  • paper : pure cotton cellulose
  • flow : slow
  • retention : 5~10 μm (fine)
  • speed : 40~45 s (10ml DIN 53137)
  • size : ⌀ 125 mm
  • thickness : 160 μm
  • weight : 86 g/m²
  • ash : 0.1%
  • qty : 100 discs

PRE-PLEATED
These Prepleated Fluted Filters saves filtration and folding time thanks to their increased surface area and loading capacity.
Provides faster flow than simple folding while maintaining similar grade characteristics.
Suitable for gravity filtration in standard funnels, not vacuum.

The BSCB was founded 1965 in order to promote the advancement of research in all branches of cell biology and to encourage the interchange of information. The Society organises a large annual conference each Spring and supports a number of other meetings across the UK relevant to cell biology. It helps promote the career development of young cell biologists and provides both travel funds for young researchers and summer research bursaries to undergraduates to work in BSCB member’s labs. The Society awards the Hooke Medal each year to a UK-based cell biologist who has made outstanding contributions to their field and since 2015 a medal to recognise outstanding female early career cell biologists. As of 2021, The Society now recognises up-and-coming young cell biologists with our new PhD and postdoc medals.

The BSCB runs annual competitions for cell biology imagery and science writing and also provides a range of highly popular informational resources for school pupils that are used across the globe. The BSCB plays an increasing role in raising awareness of science policy and funding issues in the UK.

The Society is supported by membership subscriptions and by a generous grant from The Company of Biologists, the publishers of the Journal of Cell Science, DevelopmentJournal of Experimental Biology and Disease Models and Mechanisms.
